Last year, the park on our street was shut down… not by Covid, but for renovation. For the entire pandemic, the neighborhood has been ultra quiet. No children laughing and playing.
In November of 2020, a small bulldozer was called in to rip out the roots of a gigantic maple tree. For a time, it looked like the tree might win, but eventually brute force and petrochemicals won. In December, boulders began to appear. Then, for months, nothing.
I have been, I admit, grumpy about it. But finally the end is near and I’m glad to report that the Morris Avenue Tot Lot will be reopened on Monday at 12:15. Yes, the politicians will be there to take credit for spending our tax dollars. But I’ll be there too, to tell a story.
